Alaska: Day Four

Endicott Arms and Juneau

Talk about a long day! Woke up at 4:30 am to get a good spot on the top deck to view the glaciers. Too bad we didn't get the memo that we had to change our original path to Tracy Arms Fjord do to too much ice. We could have woken up an hour later. It has a glorious glacier there but Endicott was breathtaking! We got hot chocolate then headed up and found absolutely no one! But it was awesome to watch the sun come up and it was so quiet without the commotion of hundred of passengers. But heck was is cold! We wore so many layers, gloves and hats. It was well worth it! The sunrise was straight out of a movie!

Getting up early than most we got to see things they didn't. Like a glacier close up! This is Mount Sumdum, it was pretty bad ass. Around 7 am we found Tom and Tracy, just in time as we started down the fjord. I really don't have words so I'll just show you the pictures we snapped along it! At one point we went from the highest spot of the ship to the low front of the ship. Both were freezing. But the front of the ship gets the wind straight on so it was extra cold.
The very end of the fjord the sun had fully come up so it was pretty and to see the glacier there, but I didn't mind, everything was just so peaceful and a view I've never seen before. As the ship turned around we headed to get food as all the sleepyheads just awoke and came to see. So it was perfect timing. Then we went back to the rooms for a nap before we dock at Juneau's port.
We arrived at noon! So not going to lie, Juneau was not our favorite place. It was very touristy. Sure it's cute, and defiantly has great scenery behind it. But we couldn't go on a hike because of my knee injury so there was like nothing to do! Unless you have like $400 for a glacier helicopter ride! We just didn't find the right activities I guess. They have an awesome museum there but it was closed for renovations, so lame! We did however get beer at the famous Red Dog Saloon! That was our highlight of this town. With it's live show tune music, eclectic atmosphere and great service it is a must see!
We walked around, in and out of the little shops. Tracy got a king crab leg which is caught by the people from Deadliest Catch. So that's neat. We headed back to the ship pretty early. Then just ate food and went to an Illusionist show that night! It was cool and was just fun to watch, even if it was pretty cheesy! Went to bed early since we were docking in Skagway around 7am, meeting our expedition bus for 8:30am!
