Our Poor Sweeties

Hey guys,

So it all started July 15th, a day like any other, we went on a hike with our friend Kevin and his dog Mia. At the end of it I noticed Abby squinting in one eye. She was walking really slow. I stopped to check her out and she couldn't open her eye. Sean and Kevin had to carry her back to the car. We brought her to his Dad's, who lives down the street from the place to cool her off. But you could see she was out of it. When she was running in and out of the woods she must have got poked by a stick. I couldn't believe, we decided to immediately bring her to the vet. Thank goodness we did. the vet said it was a good thing we came in, her eye could have gotten a lot worse. She was practically falling over. the had to check her eye and our baby was not happy. I was freaking out, I wanted to cry. Seeing her in paint and not knowing what was going on was breaking my heart. The doctors gave her shots and we had to give her eye drops for the next week so her eye would heal. It was awful. Thankfully she made a full recovery. If we didn't go in she could have passed out, she had massive headaches which could have made her pass out, possibly go blind in her eye or even worse.

Started off great and by the end it was horrible. I felt helpless. Here she is at the vet and then on our way home she was finally resting. You know she's sick when she is lying down in a car.

My heart broke for her, I'm so relived she is doing better. At the end of the week we had to take her back to make sure it was healing properly. So this next appointment arrives. We brought Ed as well for a check up. Below is you can see Ed likes to hide, he found the highest spot in the room. At first we were like, where did he go?! Haha! But he is a really good cat at the vet, they love our animals!

Everyone is doing well. All their blood work gets done and updates on shots. Ed only had a little ear infection which we put drops in to help. We decided that the following week we would do their dentist appointment. Boxers have weird gums I guess so they cut them back, it doesn't hurt them thankfully. And Eddy had to have some teeth removed. He's always had bad teeth, our poor little cat. They have to go under for this so we have to leave them their for the day. The moment you walk away from them is the saddest thing. Couldn't stop thinking about them all day. We had dropped them off at 7 a.m. and we couldn't pick them up till after 5!

We get there and they start talking to us and said how it went and the medication we have to give them for a week. Then they brought the animals in and left the room for a bit. Abby was being crazy, we just thought she was excited to see us. All of a sudden she is rubbing her face and body on the floor and against us... I notice all the bumps, I just thought it was from being in the cage, her fur just being weird. I mention it to the doctor and they say that's not good. Then we see all over her belly are red spots! I knew her face was swollen, I just assumed it was from mouth surgery. We found out she was having a allergic reaction! I was kind of floored they didn't noticed, we were about to walk out of the room to go home when I saw it!!! She was sitting in a cage for who knows how long in itchy pain. They gave her a shot right away! She was miserable for the rest of the night. I felt so bad, she was having a horrible month!

She couldn't sit still all night and could barely fall asleep, she kept moving to the bathroom, to the bed, to the couch. Sean stayed up all night to keep an eye on her. We gave her medicine as soon as we were allowed to (since she had a shot we had to wait) thankfully we noticed it helped a lot and made her sleepy so she finally got rest. When we let Ed out of the cage after the surgery and looked like a little drunk cat. These animals were having a rough time. Thankfully Abby didn't have to go in again for another check up and felt better by the end of the week. But we still have to bring Ed in for one more check up on his teeth and a rash he got from seasonal allergies These babes have been to the vet 4 weeks in a row. Unbelievable... and quite costly!! Thankfully all is well now. I am so thankfully for that. As I'm sure are they.

Sincerely an always worried mama,
Christina
